Where did 2015 disappear to. I feel like it passed by in the blink of an eye and the start of 2016 has been disappearing away quickly too. I have been wanting to write this blog post since the beginning of January but time has just crept up on me and here we are already at the later end of it. So I figure I will still post it anyway because it's better late than never. Right!!!!
It was a busy year and even though I didn't achieve as much as I would have liked I still did mange to make a lot of projects. I had many periods of time last year where I had down time due to chronic pain flare up's and surgery so I concentrated my efforts in those times on making smaller projects like turning odd blocks that I already had laying around into cushions for Christmas presents. I also made quite a few Zippered pouches, pin cushions, key fobs, table runners, table toppers, bags and mini quilts.
Then moving on to the larger scale projects, my big quilts (lap size or bigger). I managed to finish 9 larger quilts. Not all of these were started in 2015 many of these quilts were one's that were completed tops just waiting to be quilted.
My favourite larger quilt finish for 2015 was one that I started and completed all in that year and that was my fathers quilt. I found this pattern out of a Love patchwork and quilting magazine and right from word go I just knew I had to make it. It was a bit of a fabric waster this quilt but definitely well worth it.
I also gifted 2 quilts in 2015. One to my mum for mothers day. It was one of those ones where the top had been done for about 2 years but I just needed to get around to quilting it. The pattern for this one can be found HERE at Missouri star quilt company YouTube and is called there big star quilt. It came together so easily and was so fun to make.
I also gifted my dad one too for fathers day. This quilt I had started making the half square triangles but that is as far as I had gotten. So I busily worked on this for the few months leading up to fathers day and I pieced it together in a diamond shape just doing my own thing. I used country and western style fabrics and mixed it up with some darker prints and I called this quilt "country boy diamonds". My dad was so thrilled to receive this and was very proud to show it off.
2015 was also the year that I started to get into doing swap's. It all started with a few swaps through the year from a group that I am a part of. The crafty Gemini quilt club. Which is an online quilting group. But the later parts of the year I stated to get more involved with instagram swap's. I really enjoy doing these swaps and have 5 already in the process for this year. Here are some of the swap items that I made through out the year.
As you all know I also made many a Christmas decoration this year. Some quilting projects some crafting projects which kept me very busy through the month of November and December. Here are some of the things that I made for those activities.
Well I hope everyone is off to a good start with 2016 and is staying well and healthy and here's to a busy quilting and crafting 2016!
